Autism Jumpstart, LLC

Autism Jumpstart, LLC provides clinical behavior analytic consultation for families seeking thoughtful, relationship-centered support grounded in evidence-based practice. Led by Carrie Woodward, M.S., BCBA—who has been in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis since 2002—Autism Jumpstart specializes in working with infants at risk and newly diagnosed toddlers, coaching parents to support early social engagement and communication through a naturalistic, play-based model. Consultation also includes supporting families of older children who engage in behaviors of concern, using functional behavior assessment to understand the purpose those behaviors serve and to identify meaningful skills and repertoires that can be strengthened to reduce reliance on challenging behavior. Carrie has extensive expertise in verbal behavior and in establishing functional communication for children who previously had little to no meaningful communication. Across all services, a trauma-informed, compassionate approach is central, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, parent empowerment, and aligning intervention with a child’s developmental needs and family values.

Approach

  • …ABA. Strong focus on compassionate and trauma-informed ABA.  Priority for any coaching is for parents to establish strong social connection with their child, and to build social motivation for engagement.  Predominantly, I teach parents how to create meaningful play opportunities and how to build learning into this play. Behaviors of concern are approached through a constructional approach where we work together to identify function, and then construct behavioral repertoires that will support the child's successful navigation through triggers.
